Fremantle |
Port Fremantle on the first view is just a suburb of Perth, the capital West Australia’s. But actually it is well-known as an elegant, wealthy small town of holidays and yachts. The charismatic waterside promenades with numerous Cafés invite to walk and relax. Very popular is the "Cappuccino Strip" in the town centre, from which you can well observe the people and the lively going of Fremantle. Absolute well worth seeing are the Maritime Museum, the Shipwreck Museum, the Old Fremantle Prison and the Fremantle Motor Museum. The Maritime Museum housed numerous historical canoes, ferries and yachts. If you like everything around shipwreck relicts you should go into the Shipwreck museum. Free guidance is daily offered at ten in the morning and at three in the afternoon. You can find the first Holden prototype, historical cars and racing cars in the Fremantle Motor Museum. It is also interesting to be known that the former AC/DC member Bon Scott is buried on the cemetery in Fremantle. Who is gladly to snorkel may not miss the island Rottnest Island with its fantastic and flat beaches. It is directly located at Fremantle and you can get there with the ferry of the harbor. There are also dipping excursion to the 11 sunken wrecks around the Coast of Rottnest Island. For outgoing in the evening and in the night you shouldn’t miss the small and groovy bar "Mojo's", in which is live music on weekends and DJs play indie music during the week. There are some Festivals taking place during the year, for example the Festival of Fremantle in November with street parades, exhibitions and free performances. The Sardine Festival in October offers Gourmet meals like "Yabbies", crocodiles, Seafood and Sardines. Another exciting event is the "Blessing of the Fleet", which is setting to sail in October. Fremantle offers with the “University of Notre Dame” and three TAFE's a few opportunities to study or to study further. The courses at the TAFE's are becoming even more popular, which is on the one hand because of the fact, that the courses for Australians are nationally promoted. The advantage is on the other hand a stronger practice purchase and a shorter and more flexible study time. This is the point, which might particularly be interesting for all non-Australians.
