Victor Harbor

The most important city on "Fleurieu Peninsula" is Victor Harbor. It is a hugely popular retirement and holiday town 83 km south of Adelaide. Whale-watching is very popular there and the fabulous beaches of “Middleton” and “Goolwa”, which are beloved of surfers and beach-layabouts, are just a 10-minute drive away. Between

“Victor Harbor’s Bluff” and “Goolwa” is the 23 km sealed Encounter Bikeway follows the truly beautiful coast. There is also the old “Cockle Train” operating between these towns.

Children love the double-decker tram pulled by Clydesdale draught horses across the short causeway to tiny “Granite Island”, which also has a little penguin rookery. The “Urimbirra Wildlife Park”, north of Victor Harbor, has a variety of animals and birds.

The “Anchorage at Victor Harbor” offers a night in a dorm for A$ 25.
